The College of Health Sciences (CHS), KNUST on 31st January 2022 warmly received a visit from Professor Marion Martienssen from Brandenburg University of Technology in Cottbus - Senftenberg, Germany, to discuss possible research collaboration and student exchange programme.
Professor Martienssen is a seasoned researcher with rich expertise in Biotechnology of water treatment with a specific focus on areas such as water and wastewater treatment, water analysis, water chemistry, water engineering, and so on. Prof Martienssen in her speech mentioned that her institution is ready to foster a linkage between the two institutions which will lead to research collaboration with researchers in the Department of Pharmaceutics, to begin with. She added that this collaboration would serve as a springboard for future collaborations with other researchers in other departments in the College. She also opined that students’ exchange programmes with the CHS through the Erasmus Mundus Scholarship could also be exploited for undergraduate and postgraduate students.
Professor Christian Agyare, the Provost of the College of Health Sciences (CHS) indicated the readiness of the College to partner with this German University to enhance teaching and research. He stated that the College and its management welcome the idea and believe this would open doors of opportunities for more future collaborations between Brandenburg and KNUST.
After the discussion, Professor Martienssen was taken on a tour to the University's central laboratory where she expressed her delight with the facilities and equipment available.
