MPhil/PhD

The Department offers 2-year MPhil and 3-year PhD programmes in Pharmaceutics and Pharmaceutical Microbiology.

Admission requirements:

In addition to the general entry requirements, candidates for admission to the MPhil programmes should hold a Bachelor of Pharmacy (BPharm) degree of this University or an approved Institution normally not lower than Second Class (lower division). Also, candidates holding Bachelor degrees in the Natural Sciences (Second Class lower division) or higher of this University or an approved Institution may be admitted to the MPhil programmes.

Candidates for admission to the PhD programmes should possess an MPhil or MSc degree in Pharmaceutics/ Pharmaceutical Microbiology or related areas from an approved Institution.

Course Content:

The programmes involve the study of the following topics:- Powder Technology, Gum Technology and Application to Pharmacy, Formulation and Stability Studies, Herbal Medicinal Plants Research, Preservation of Pharmaceuticals, Antimicrobial Agents and their actions, and Microencapsulation. In addition to these courses, the M.Sc in Pharmaceutical Technology has Management course component.

Fees

In addition to the Academic Facility User Fee (AFUF) charged by the University, a Bench Fee of $1,500 (one thousand five hundred dollars) or its equivalent, per annum, is payable for all postgraduateĀ  programmes.
