The Department is at the forefront of research in the University and is actively involved in the training of graduate students for the manpower needs of Health Departments in tertiary institutions in the country. Presently, the Department has 24 graduate students registered for M.Phil and PhD programmes. Our research performance is evident in the high turn-out of publications from the Department. Last year, Professor Eric Woode, a member of our Department, won the best researcher award in the University. Our objective is to continue to support the local training of graduate students. We collaborate with local research centres especially the Centre for Scientific Research into Plant Medicine (CSRPM) at Mampong Akuapem, Ghana. We also have strong research links with the Molecular Toxicology Unit at Imperial College London. The Head of the Unit, Professor Nigel Gooderham is a visiting Professor to our Department.
