Professor Samuel Asare-Nkansah has been appointed as the new Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences (KNUST). He assumed office on the 1st of November, 2022.
Professor Samuel Asare-Nkansah is an Associate Professor in Pharmaceutical Chemistry, with his research interest in the Isolation and characterization of bioactive molecules for infectious, inflammatory, and metabolic diseases.
His other research interests are Synthesis of antimicrobial agents based on natural product scaffolds, the Development and validation of cost-effective analytical methods for drug quality assessments, Standardization and valorization of medicinal plant resources, the Monitoring of residual impurities and heavy metal levels in medicinal products, and Therapeutic Drug Monitoring.
With a number of journals and publications to his credit, He has also specialised in; bioorganic and Pharmaceutical Analyses and Quality Management Natural Product Drug Discovery Synthesis, Evaluation, and Structure-Activity-Relationship Studies.
Professor Samuel Asare-Nkansah obtained both his Bachelor of Pharmacy and Master of Science in Pharmaceutical Analysis and Quality Control degrees from the KNUST, Kumasi, and studied for a doctoral degree in Pharmaceutical and Medicinal Chemistry at the University of Muenster, Muenster, Germany.
He has served as the Head of the Pharmaceutical Chemistry Department, a Member of the University Examinations Audit Team, Faculty and College Examinations Officer.
