The Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences (FPPS) of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) on the 11th of September 2023 welcomed a two-member team from CAMAG, the world leader in Planar Chromatography and producers of high-quality instruments for Thin Layer Chromatography at the Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences Conference Room.
The members from CAMAG were Dr. Tiên Do, the Head of the Laboratory, and Raphael Vizzini, the Sales and Marketing Representative. They paid a courtesy call to the Provost of the College of Health Sciences (CHS), Professor Christian Agyare to discuss the intent of their visit and introduce CAMAG as a company, their products, and services to the management of CHS.
Dr. Tiên Do and Raphael Vizzini made a presentation on High-Performance Thin-Layer Chromatography (HPTLC) where they explained that chromatography is a technique that separates components in non-volatile mixtures. They also introduced HPTLC instruments produced by CAMAG for qualitative and quantitative analyses.
CAMAG was founded by the German Chemist Dr. Dieter Jänchen (1927-2018) in 1958. In 1961, CAMAG entered the analytical field of Thin-Layer Chromatography (TLC). They extended their market position over the years to become the world leader in instrumental High-Performance Thin-Layer Chromatography (HPTLC).
It’s the vision of CAMAG to create value for their customers by providing instruments, analytical and diagnostic methods, and training to analysts worldwide. CAMAG creates, tests, and produces all instruments solely in Switzerland, and provides them to its worldwide customers through its subsidiaries and dedicated distributors (more than 70).
