Professor Obed Brew, an expert in Bioinformatics and Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Healthcare and Pharmacogenomics, visited the Provost of the College of Health Sciences, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) on Monday, 14th April 2025. The visit highlighted his strong collaboration with the university and his continued support for the Department of Pharmacology at the Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences (FPPS), KNUST.
Professor Brew, CEO of PrecisionME Ltd UK (a Biotech Company that specialises in Pharmacogenomics and Precision Medicine), was until October 2024 a faculty member of the University of West London in England for over 25 years. He is a visiting lecturer at KNUST, where he teaches Pharmacogenomics and AI in Healthcare at the Department of Pharmacology. He has over 20 years of experience in Bioinformatics and has developed deep expertise in applying Artificial Intelligence and genomics research to improve human health.
At KNUST, he is committed to teaching both undergraduate and postgraduate students while supporting research initiatives within the College of Health Sciences. Professor Brew gave more insight into the research project he is working on, which encompasses Bioinformatics and Artificial Intelligence.
Professor Brew shared his academic journey and his passion for giving back to Ghana through knowledge-sharing and research collaboration. A key part of his mission is helping to establish a Centre for AI in Healthcare at the Boadi Medical enclave. He expressed hope for strong support and the timely inauguration of the centre to position Ghana at the forefront of healthcare innovation.

Professor Christian Agyare, the Provost of the College of Health Sciences, warmly welcomed Professor Brew and thanked him for his dedication and service. He presented him with a souvenir as a token of appreciation for his commitment to advancing health education and research in the College.
Professor (Mrs.) Cynthia Amaning Danquah, Head of the Department of Pharmacology, also praised Professor Brew’s efforts. “His expertise and commitment will make a lasting impact, and we are grateful for his continued support,” she said.
