The College of Health Sciences, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), is celebrating one of its outstanding alumni, Mr. Evans Aryeh, who has gained admission to the University of Oxford in the United Kingdom to pursue a Master of Science (MSc) in Pharmacology. Evans joins the globally renowned institution as a Mastercard Foundation Scholar and a proud member of St Hugh’s College.
A Ghanaian pharmacist and product of the Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences (FPPS), Evans graduated as Valedictorian of the 2024 class, distinguishing himself as one of the Faculty’s brightest minds. His academic excellence was further recognized with the Vice-Chancellor’s Award for Academic Excellence in both 2023 and 2024, affirming his consistency and dedication to scholarly achievement.
Evans’s research interest lies in exploring the medicinal potential of African botanical plants, a field he believes holds immense promise for drug discovery and global health. His passion for pharmacological innovation has driven his contributions to early-stage drug discovery projects involving Plumeria acutifolia and Antiaris toxicaria, two plants known for their diverse pharmacological properties. He also served as a Teaching and Research Assistant at KNUST, where he mentored students and supported ongoing scientific investigations.
Beyond academia, Evans is deeply passionate about healthcare innovation and technology. As Research Lead at Erith Health Services, he played a pivotal role in securing a World Food Programme (WFP) grant to develop a digital healthcare training platform, an initiative that is now expanding across West Africa to strengthen health systems and professional capacity.
