Prof. Priscilla Kolibea Mante Named Academic Pharmacist of the Year at PSGH Awards

 

Professor Priscilla Kolibea Mante, Professor of Pharmacology at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), has been named Academic Pharmacist of the Year by the Pharmaceutical Society of Ghana (PSGH).

The award was presented on 25 September 2026, World Pharmacists’ Day, during activities marking the 90th Anniversary of the Pharmaceutical Society of Ghana, in recognition of her contributions to pharmaceutical education, research, professional practice, science communication and scientific leadership.

Professor Mante is a faculty member of the Department of Pharmacology, KNUST, and Research Faculty at the Center for Applied Research and Innovation in Supply Chain–Africa (CARISCA). Her research focuses on the neurobiology and pharmacotherapy of neurological and mental health disorders, particularly epilepsy, depression, anxiety and neuroinflammation. Her work integrates medicinal plant research, metabolomics, the gut–brain axis and biomarkers to explore new therapeutic approaches.

She has authored more than 60 peer-reviewed publications and contributed to major research initiatives including the GIZ PharmaVax SirraScale Project, ECOWAS PARI DIABETOX Project and USAID BRIDGE-Train Project. She has also supervised and mentored numerous postgraduate and undergraduate researchers.

Beyond academia, Professor Mante has contributed to international science policy and engagement through platforms like UNESCO, Springer Nature, the World Science Forum and STS Forum. She is also the founder of WriteShop Ghana and coordinates science and career-development initiatives including Brain Bee Ghana, 2-Minute Thesis and STEM Elevate.

She serves as Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the Ghana Pharmaceutical Journal and Associate Editor of the African Brain Journal.

The KNUST Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences congratulates Professor Mante on this recognition, which reflects her sustained contributions to pharmaceutical research, education, mentorship, innovation and the advancement of science in Ghana and beyond.
