Pharmaceutical Chemistry

Pharm ChemPharmaceutical chemistry is the branch of pharmacy that deals with applied chemistry. It embraces organic, bioinorganic, physical, phytochemical and analytical chemistry. These disciplines are applied in the preparation, synthesis, and standardisation, interpretation of drug interactions and analysis of chemical substances for medicinal use.

The objective of Pharmaceutical chemistry courses are that at the end of the programme, the students should be able to apply their knowledge of the fundamental concepts and principles inorganic, physical, medical and analytical chemistry to pharmaceuticals and then relate these concepts to drug synthesis, manufacturing and quality assurance in the practice of pharmacy.
