Prof. Isaac Ayensu was born on 23rdJuly, 1973 and obtained his ‘O’ and ‘A’ level education from Mfantsipim School. He had his Bachelor of Pharmacy degree from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in March 2000 (First Class Honours) and then pursued an MSc in pharmaceutical analysis and quality control at the same university graduating in March, 2003. He was appointed a lecturer at the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, KNUST. He further undertook PhD research in Pharmaceutical Sciences (drug delivery, formulation and characterisation) under a Commonwealth Scholarship and Fellowship Plan  at the University of Greenwich, UK, graduating from 2009-12. Subsequently, he returned to Ghana to continue with teaching and research while serving the university, the nation and the international communities in diverse capacities.

Prof. Ayensu is currently a Senior Lecturer as well as the Head, at the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry. He actively maintains his research interests and has published extensively as well as presented at several national and international conferences. He is a reviewer for the Pharmaceutical Biology Journal and the International Journal of Pharmaceutics. He is married to Mrs Olivia Ayensu with four (4) children.
